PSG’s monthly series returns this Saturday, April 11, to Hipbone Studio. This month’s show, titled “Three Guys & A Fool: The Unshorn Truth” features Howard Adler, Norm Brecke, Steven Henegar, and Frans van der Horst.
The guys have decided to tell you the truth – foolish or not! Their stories range from traditional to personal, all of which will remind audiences that life is never ordinary.
These delightful gentlemen are no strangers to storytelling:
Frans van der Horst has been storytelling since he retired in 2007, telling in order to reveal the deeper meanings in everyday life. He often uses his own travels, growing up in Europe, working in Africa and the US, as his inspiration. He’ll tell two personal stories at this show, and rumor has it he might sing a song, as well.
For over 25 years, Steven Henegar has called up with his stories the everyday and the fantastic to discover feelings and experiences that connect us all. “I grew up in a family that shared their lives in stories, as we all do,” says Steven, and those stories have inspired a life’s work in storytelling: performing, teaching workshops, and working as an artist-in-residence. His story at this show is titled “How Things Work” and presents a portrait of a third-grader’s quest for knowledge … and what happens when he completes it.
Norm Brecke comes to us from our northerly sister city, Seattle, where he has long been a part of the Seattle Storytellers Guild. Norm gets regular practice storytelling as a classroom teacher, but we are all eager to watch him truly shine on the stage.
Last but not least, Howard Adler got into storytelling early in life, “mainly to get out of trouble with my mother and the law,” according to him. “As a child, I was called a liar. As an adult, I am called a storyteller. I eagerly await the time that I will be called the keeper of the wisdom.”
To hear Howard’s wisdom, and that of all of this program’s tellers, please join us:
