Summer Reading

Welcome to summer! PSG is taking a break from programming until we get started with our next season in September. In the meantime, whether you are hitting the trails, the beach, or staying cool somewhere in between, here are some summer reads that are sure to please … not to mention keep you in the storytelling loop. Happy Summer!

The Storytelling Animal: How Stories Make Us Human, by Jonathan Gottschall

Storytelling an evolutionary behavior? Whether you find the idea preposterous or perfect, Gottschall’s theory is back up with research from several disciplines. And yet, remarkably readable, even for the beach.

Wired for Story, by Lisa Cron

For those of us working on our own stories, in any medium, Cron’s experience in the media provides insight into the craft of storytelling that moves the masses. Writer’s block? Keep this book nearby.

The Story Factor, by Annette Simmons

No matter what your profession, Simmons’ book lays out how all business communications are based on six basic stories. Learn how to use them to build and understand strong working relationships in every sector.
