For I was a stranger….Santos Ramón Zepeda Campos by Wink Harner

How do I live? I live to make a difference. This story makes a difference. The people in this story make a difference. While we as a country wrestle with the asylum seeker, the refugee, the immigrant, the stranger at the border, this story is why people like me and the other people involved in this case do what we do: we live to make a difference. The story of Santos Ramón Zepeda Campos is about a 13 year old Nicaraguan refugee who walked to this country to petition for asylum. He was the youngest juvenile to petition for asylum based on reasonable fear. Because of Ramón and how the people involved in this story worked together to save his life, not only was the law changed making it possible for juveniles to petition for asylum, but we changed the way in which age is determined. Please come join us on May 4th to hear how this impacted Ramón’s life and the lives of countless others
